I had a question via email that asked me: What is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which is basically optimizing your website so that the search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN, etc) will recognize your website for the search terms you are trying to attract. So if you sold widgets, you would want to optimize your site so that the search engines would recognize that you sold widgets and rank you high enough so that people searching to buy widgets would find you in the search engines so they can visit you and buy your widgets.

This ranking for terms are also referred to as "organic results" which indicates that your site is found though the organic searches of the web as opposed to "paid placement" or PPC "pay per click"

Another acronym/term with the same meaning is SERP's, which stands for Search Engine Results Pages.

If you have other questions along the same lines, post them here.
